Soccer Kids In The Park Program 2009

The Soccer Kids In the Park program this past summer was a huge hit with an increase in participation of 65% (785 in 2008 to 1290 participants in 2009).  This program runs from July to August and takes place at various City of Saskatoon playground sites.  The program focuses on ages 4 to 12 and is a free drop-in program.  The program’s main purpose is to eliminate any financial and transportation barriers to those who normally cannot afford to play soccer or who are unable to obtain transportation in order to participate by bringing the program to them free of charge.  The program provides qualified leaders with coaching certifications to teach fun soccer drills in order to help increase interest in the sport in Saskatoon.  Anyone is welcome to participate in the program and we are looking forward to the program running again in summer 2010!  This program is entirely funded through grants thanks to the City of Saskatoon and the Government of Saskatchewan.
