I Want To Referee

Match officials (also known as referees) are important to amateur sport in Saskatchewan. They keep sport safe, fair, and fun. They are knowledgeable, trained, passionate, and dedicated. And, our competitions cannot be held without them.

There are many benefits to refereeing. Refereeing offers:

A rewarding way to give back to the game you love.
A great way to stay connected to the beautiful game
An opportunity for personal growth by practicing skills in organization, time management, conflict resolution, and people management.
The opportunity to make some money.
The opportunity to represent your community or province at regional/provincial/national/international levels.
The opportunity to develop your understanding and appreciation for the game.
The opportunity to meet new people and find new networks.
The opportunity to feel good about yourself and your role in the game.
The opportunity to get physically active.
A great way to positively impact youth and other community members.

Where can I referee?

Your first step is connect with the Saskatoon and District Referee Association Inc. (SDSRAI). After you have some experience, your next step is to contact the Coordinator of Referee Development.

How do I get started?

After you have connected with the SDSRAI, and depending on your interests and programming availability, you can start by registering for a Referee online course.

Whether you are interested in refereeing soccer, futsal, or both, more information is available for you to proceed is on the Referee Courses webpage.

How do I get registered as a referee?

Referees register with their local Member Organization or Referee Association. If Member Organizations/Referee Associations collect fees for registration, referees will pay all registration fees to them. Contact the SDSRAI or visit their registration website in order to start registering today.
