What is Futsal and Why It’s Essential for Player Development
| Futsal is a dynamic, fast-paced variant of soccer played indoors on a smaller, hard court with five players per team. Unlike traditional soccer, it uses a smaller, low-bounce ball that emphasizes control, quick footwork, and precise technique. The name comes from the Spanish and Portuguese term fútbol sala or futebol de salão, meaning “indoor football.” With no walls and a tight playing area, futsal encourages nonstop action, quick decision-making, and high levels of skill. |

SYSI Futsal Academy (U11-U18):

| Eligibility: Open to all zone and non zone players in Saskatoon |
| Limit of 20 spots per age/gender group, register early! Registration is first-come-first-serve basis and is only complete once payment has been received. |
| Includes 18 one-hour futsal training sessions and a full player kit, including two training jerseys, two pairs of socks, one pair of shorts, and one quarter-zip jacket. Players who already have these clothing items will receive a refund for those items. |
| The training program runs from mid-October to mid-March. The training days will be announced based on facility availability in late August and may be subject to change. All training groups are subject to being combined as well based on registration numbers. Training schedules will not conflict with SYSI League Games; however it may not always be possible to avoid Zone club team training conflicts. |
