Where/How Do I Register?

- Under 5, Under 7, and Under 9 age groups register with their local Community Associations. The Community Associations then register the teams with Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc.
- Under 9 Development players register with any zone (players are encouraged to register with the zone in which they reside in as this is the zone they will be playing in for Under-11).
- Under 11, Under 13, Under 15, and Under 17 players register in their home soccer zone. The zones then register teams with Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. * Under 9 Development may register with any zone but they are strongly encouraged to register with their zone of residence because that is where they will have to register come Under 11.
- Under 19 players are free to register with any zone of their choosing.
- Adults can contact Saskatoon Adult Soccer Inc. at 306-975-3427 for more information.
- Every season SYSI sets a soccer registration period. Normally registration for Outdoor Soccer takes place mid-February to early-March and registration for Indoor Soccer takes place mid-August to early-September. Watch for information in the Leisure Guides; School, Community Association and Zone newsletters; the local newspaper; various websites; and for signs in your community.

When does the season begin and how long is the season?

- Indoor soccer normally is played from mid-October - early March for U11 - U19 teams. U5 - U9 teams normally don’t start until the third week of October and play until mid-March.
- Outdoor soccer begins at the start of May for U5 - U9 teams play games until the end of June. Outdoor soccer starts the 2nd last weekend of April for all U11 - U19 teams and runs until late-June. The U13, U15, U17 age groups also partake in the Provincial Soccer League (PSL) on scheduled weekdays & weekends around the province from May to July.The champion team in the U15 and U17 girls and boys divisions represnts the province at club nationals in October.


Where will the games be played?

Indoor Soccer:

- U5 play a minimum of 10 games in elementary school gymnasiums with an additional 5 games on turf (one Sunday per month at SaskTel Sports Centre).
- U7 play 10 games at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre with two games on one field (one game takes up 1/2 of the field) with another 5 games on turf (one Sunday per month at SaskTel Sports Centre)
- U9 play a total of 10 games at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre with two games on one field (one game takes up 1/2 of the field) with another 5 games on turf (one Sunday per month at SaskTel Sports Centre)
- U9 Development teams play a total of 15 games at the SaskTel Sports Centre with two games on one field (one game takes up 1/2 of the field). Practices also take place at the soccer centres and two teams share one field.
- U11 play 20 games with 15 games played at the SaskTel Sports Centre and 5 games played at the Saskatoon Kinsmen Henk Ruys Soccer Centre with live boards as well as 18 practices at both soccer centres with two teams sharing a field.
- U13 play 20 games plus 1st vs 2nd final at the SaskTel Sports Centre with 18 practices at both soccer centres with two teams sharing a field.
- U15 play 18 games plus 1st vs 2nd final at the SaskTel Sports Centre with 18 practices at both soccer centres with two teams sharing a field.
- U19 play 18 games plus 1st vs 2nd final at the SaskTel Sports Centre with 18 practices at both soccer centres with two teams sharing a field.
- Provincial competitions for U15 - U19 teams are offered each season.

Outdoor Soccer:

- U5, U7 and U9 receive 8 games and are played on lined green space in the City of Saskatoon green spaces.
- U11 - U19 receive 10 games and are played on the City of Saskatoon natural grass sports fields and the artifcial turf fields at the SaskTel Sports Centre.
- Provincial competitions for U15 - U19 teams are offered each season.


How much does it cost to register for soccer?

Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc charges each Zone and Community Association per team they register. To find out the exact cost per player you would have to contact the Zone or Community Association you plan to register with.


What equipment is required to play soccer?

- Usual equipment of a player is a jersey (normally supplied by the team), shorts, socks, shin guards and footwear.
- U11 - U19 players are required to wear shin guards.
- A player shall not wear anything that is dangerous to another player.
- Cleats are not allowed on indoor smooth hardcourt surfaces.


Is the SYSI office open over the lunch hour?

Yes, the SYSI office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00am - 4:30pm.


How do I book fields?

To book indoor fields at Saskatoon Kinsmen Henk Ruys Soccer Centre or SaskTel Sports Centre or to book outdoor artificial turf fields at SaskTel Sports Centre call the Saskatoon Soccer Centres Booking Administrator at 306-975-3423. To book outdoor natural grass fields call the City of Saskatoon Allocations Office at 306-975-3366.


How do I become a referee?

Each season the Saskatoon and District Soccer Referees Association hold referee clinics. You can contact the SDSRA by visiting http://sdsrai.com/.
